Cato Street Exhibition – Prahran Mechanic’s Institute

Following on from the archaeological investigations conducted earlier this year, an exhibition hosted by the Prahran Mechanic’s Institute (PMI Victorian History Library) will be running from Thursday the 19th of October to Friday the 3rd of November. A public lecture will be conducted by our own Dr Michelle Negus Cleary on the opening night of the exhibition on 19th of October at 7pm.

Michelle will be discussing the history of the site, the scope of the project as well as the significance of the finds. This will illustrate how the Cato Street car park fits with the history of Prahran and its changing nature from rural and residential, to light industrial and residential and then to become an important retail and commercial centre in Melbourne.

A full description of the project can be found here.

For bookings please contact the PMI Victorian History Library on 03 9510 3393, visit them at 39 St. Edmonds Road Prahran, or click here to book online.
