Dr Jeff Theys

Jeff is an archaeologist and heritage advisor with more than five years of experience working on archaeological projects in Australia. Prior to joining Dr Vincent Clark & Associates in 2019, Jeff worked on a variety of consulting and academic archaeological projects in Victoria, Tasmania, the ACT and Vanuatu. He has extensive experience working on Aboriginal stone artefact quarries in Tasmania as part of his PhD research, in which he used geochemical techniques such as Portable X-ray Fluorescence (pXRF) to source stone artefacts. Jeff specialises in Indigenous archaeological survey and excavation, with technical skills including lithic analysis, GPS/GIS and pXRF.
Outside of consulting archaeology, Jeff has worked as an assistant curator at the National Museum of Australia, contributing to high profile exhibitions by assisting with community consultation and research, as part of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program. Jeff has also worked as a research assistant at La Trobe University and has published in peer-reviewed archaeological journals and volumes.
